Every year Churchville firefighters and rescue squad personnel visit Churchville Elementary and Fairbanks
Elementary schools. Personnel demonstrate the proper use of the 911 system, matches and lighters are tools not
toys, operation EDITH (exit drills in the home), to change the batteries in their smoke detectors, not to be afraid of
firefighters or rescue squad personnel if we respond to their houses, and show/demonstrate some of the equipment
used by the Churchville fire department.

During Fire Prevention Week (October 8-14) Churchville Fire Department held it's annual Open House on October
15. This year, activities included an auto extrication drill and, for the first time at an open house, a water rescue
drill. Attendance, particularly among children, was the highest in years and everyone hopefully learned more about
fire prevention and safety in the process.
